#QuestionOfTheDay – Day 21 – How Do You Pick Your Mentors?

Jairek Robbins

Mentor

Hello there,

Jairek Robbins here, ready to dive into a topic that’s very close to my heart: mentorship.

Do you currently have a mentor? If yes, fantastic! If not, why not?

Choosing a mentor is one of the most pivotal decisions you can make in your life. A mentor can guide you, open doors, and help you steer clear of potential pitfalls. They are a wealth of knowledge, experiences, and wisdom. But how do you pick the right one?

In my experience, a mentor is someone who resonates with your aspirations and values, someone whose success you admire, and someone who is genuinely interested in helping you grow.

How did you go about picking your mentor? And how did you convince them to mentor you? Sometimes, the best mentorships arise naturally, from a relationship rooted in mutual respect and shared interests. At other times, it can involve more explicit steps, such as requesting mentorship or demonstrating your drive and potential.

The experience of mentorship is a journey of growth and learning. What have been your biggest takeaways so far? Is there a piece of advice or an insight that has profoundly shifted your perspective?

And lastly, how do you know they’re still the right mentor for you? A mentor’s role is to help you grow, but as you progress, your needs might evolve. The “right” mentor today might not be the “right” mentor a few years down the line. And that’s perfectly okay.

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and experiences around mentorship. Feel free to drop your comments below.

Until next time,

Jairek Robbins
